Last Sunday, I found out that a dear friend is going to start Chemotherapy next week.
Besides all the other, more normal, reactions;
one of my first responses was "Chemo Cap".
"What's your favorite color?"
Why does my brain work that way?
Hard to tell.
There are ladies of the church that will volunteer to help with her housekeeping.
There are ladies of the church that will volunteer to take awesomely home cooked meals to her and her family.
There's a whole group of (mostly) men that will become her beck-and-call chauffeurs.
There's the contingent of medically experienced people that listen, help interpret and translate, and offer resources of medical knowledge.
But, my niche is knitting some fuzzy thing to bring comfort.
And that's what I can do that not everyone else can.
I can find super-soft yarns in colors that match her wardrobe, and her bath robe.
I can provide a bit of style, a bright spot, and some whimsy.
As well as some camouflage, comfort and concealment.
Maybe even something to talk about when all else around is so difficult to express.
What do you do for those you want to help?

How much do you like to knit?
What are you knitting today?
Why do we knit?
Why do we want to talk to other knitters about knitting?
Why do we want to read about knitting, look a photos of knitting, read patterns?
Even Dumbeldore says he loves to read knitting patterns in at least one of the Harry Potter book/movies.
